‍Hello Beautiful Being. As spring unfolds around us, it brings a natural invitation to begin again. This season of renewal reminds us that just as the earth softens, blooms, and awakens, we too can nurture new energy, balance, and well-being within ourselves.

Spring is an ideal time to prioritize self-care—not as a luxury, but as an essential practice. Through Jin Shin Jyutsu, we gently harmonize the body’s energy pathways, helping to release tension, restore vitality, and support emotional clarity. Even a few mindful moments each day—holding a finger, placing hands on the body, or simply pausing to breathe—can create meaningful shifts.

As we move into this vibrant season, I encourage you to listen closely to your body’s needs and honor them with kindness and consistency. Small acts of care can lead to profound transformation.

SEL #5

Safety Energy Lock #5 Is called the Psychologist.  It is also Regeneration and Undeviating Justice

Where is it?  SEL #5 is located on the inside of the ankle just under the ankle-bone.

What does it help?  Holding the 5 (one or both) helps us let go of fear and clears the mind. It helps with any chest congestion as well as the uterus/ovaries/prostate. It also helps with finding the divine purpose in all beings.

Try it! - While sitting, bring your left foot over your right knee. Gently put your right fingers under the inside of your left ankle bone. With your left fingers, gently place them on your left groin area where your leg meets your torso. Close your eyes, relax your shoulders

Remember to breathe in and out slowly and consciously, holding the out breath (empty lungs) for as long as you can, then breathe normally a few times.  Repeat this breathing up to 5 times if you can while holding this beautiful SEL. Repeat on the other side.

There’s a Finger for THAT!!

HOLD YOUR Index Finger!!

If you cannot hold your SEL #5, you can hold your Index Finger (specifically the knuckle nearest the palm of the hand). This finger will help clear the 5’s, letting go of fear and clearing mental chaos.

The index finger also helps the bladder and kidneys as well as the muscles bringing about a sense of TRUST!

Hello Beautiful Being! Happy Autumn! I hope you had a wonderful summer! As the leaves begin to turn and the air carries the ideas of change, autumn invites us to slow down, reflect, and gently let go. This season is a natural time for release—of old habits, heavy thoughts, and what no longer serves our growth.

SEL 4, The Window, or The Manager

Safety Energy Lock #4 The “Window of Knowledge” is associated with mental clarity, perception, and consciousness. It helps to release mental stress, tension, and confusion.

Where is it?  SEL #4 is located at the base of the skull in the back of the head – where the left and right occipital bone ends. The Ring Finger is also helpful.

What does it help? Touching and holding the 4’s can help all head discomforts and eye tensions.  The 4’s are the Bridge between the Spiritual and Physical worlds.  Holding these SEL’s can also quiet the mind when trying to fall asleep at night.

Try it!  Gently put both index fingers behind your head and on the bottom of your skull. Line up the rest of your fingers up that skull line. You can do this standing, sitting, or laying down. Often this is a tender part of your skull – be gentle with yourself. If you have “a lot on your mind”, this hold can calm those thoughts and chatter. Remember to breathe in and out slowly and consciously, holding the out breath (empty lungs) for as long as you can, then breathe normally a few times.  Repeat this breathing 9 times, if you can, while holding this beautiful SEL.

The ring finger also helps the large intestine, lungs, and deep skin, and brings about a sense of JOY!!

Hello Beautiful Being,

Love is in the air!!! February (and Valentine’s Day) is often thought of for couples. How about love for ourselves? And part of that is feeling and BEing well!! Mary Burmeister (brought JSJ to the U.S.) said that healing comes from within and starts with the breath. Breathing in, up the back of our bodies, and breathing out, down the front. Just BE. “Be the Smile” as Mary says.

We can do so much to help ourselves and it’s simply using our own hands. Of course seeing a practitioner is even better!!

This month’s newsletter is about our Safety Energy Lock #2 and the finger associated with it; our Ring Finger.

SEL 2, Wisdom and Life Force!

Safety Energy Lock #2 - Wisdom and Life Force, “Seeing through the Creator’s Eyes”

Where is it? SEL #2 is located on either side of the lower back – behind the hip area and towards the spine. Alternatively, it is helpful to hold the ring finger.

What does it help? Holding SEL #2 helps with leg discomfort, digestion, back distress, breathing, and can give a sense of general well-being. This is a place where many people “throw out their back” and often aches after bending and lifting items from the floor.

Try it! While standing, sitting, or laying on your back, put the front or back of your hands/fingers on your lower back. If you are laying down, slide the backs of your hands under your lower back (sacrum area) palms down. Remember to breathe in and out slowly and consciously, holding the “out” breath (empty lungs) for as long as you can, then breathe normally a few times.  Repeat this breathing 9 times if you can while holding this beautiful SEL.

HOLD YOUR Ring Finger!!

If you cannot hold your lower back, your ring finger will do in a pinch. This finger is associated with grief and sadness and can help bring you into a more balanced state of joy. The ring finger also supports the Large Intestine and the Lungs.

You can hold your ring finger with your other hand in it’s entirety, or hold each individual knuckle helping your Large Intestine.

The next time you feel out of breath, bring your ring finger down and put your thumb on the ring-fingernail. You can even do this with both your hands together!

The ring finger also helps support your deeper skin (as opposed to the skin surface).
