Through the practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu, we may experience the complete peace and serenity which is available to all.

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese art/modality of healing on many levels. With similarities to acupuncture without needles, Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy is the art of harmonizing the body’s energy pathways. It was brought to the United States from Japan, in the 1950s by Mary Burmeister. Jin Shin Jyutsu uses the practitioner’s hands to “jumper cable” the recipient’s body which unlocks blockages that cause pain and disease (dis-ease) in the body.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a perfect companion to Western and Eastern medicine. Effects include the ability to tolerate and better assimilate needed medical procedures and medications and reduce side effects of the same.

A Session For A Person

A JSJ session can take place anywhere, however, I like to have the person come to my home office and lay face up on my very comfortable massage/JSJ table. The person is laying fully clothed (wear loose comfortable clothing) face up. An under-knee bolster and/or a shallow pillow is available upon request.

A full session takes about an hour from when you walk in until the end of the session. During the session, the practitioner will gently place their hands/fingers on different locations of the body (front and back) to clear the blockages to energy flow. This is very similar to an acupressure session although the practitioner will not dig into these often sensitive points.

There are 26 of these points on each side of the body (right and left) and the practitioner has studied/learned the many points and flows to “unlock” the blockages to the body’s natural energy flow.

This is a time for you to relax and know that what your body needs most at that time is happening right then. Many people take this time to reflect inwardly, engage in conscience breathing, meditate, or talk about something that comes to mind - everyone processes differently and there is no judgement.

At the end of your session you can expect to feel relaxed and refreshed. Don’t be fooled - a large amount of energy is moved during the session and it takes about eight hours for that cycle to complete. Be good to yourself for at least that long and enjoy lots of fresh water.

A Session For A Pet

An animal/pet session takes place where she/he is most comfortable - typically in their home on the floor or on a lap. These sessions take about 20 to 30 minutes of hands on. If the first session the pet does not want to be touched, the session can be done “near” them. The practitioner will also show the pet-parents some “holds” that will comfort their pet until the next session.

There are often times the animal/pet will get up and walk away from the practitioner - this can mean several things; they saw something more interesting, they are nervous or uncomfortable, or they are finished with their session. The practitioner may or may not follow the pet and continue or call them back. Sometimes a small treat can be used to “help” the pet stay in the general area for their treatment/session.

It is imperative rescued/adopted animals have some sort of trauma treatment. We often don’t know how they got to the place of needing a new home - the gentle art of JSJ is always a welcome sigh of relief to help them on their new life path.

Often times when I’m called in to treat one of several pets, the entire menagerie sits with us to get a little bit of the love… I just love that!!
